Hello everyone. I apologize for the length of this post, but there is much news to share at the beginning of the year and I want to make sure everyone gets all the information.
First of all, I want to invite all of you to join us for the first NOBOB meeting of this school year on Monday, August 10th at the High School. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. and will discuss things happening in the next month or two, as well as hear a report from the Band Directors. In case you need an extra incentive, I hear there might be chocolate there… I hope you can join us!
Help wanted — As you know, fundamentals are starting this week, followed by band camp next week. Mr. Kalish and Mrs. Kovach have asked us to have a parent available during the times the students are there to help provide water for them. If you are able to help with this, please let me know.
Next, as you are probably aware, we will be fitting all the students for their Marching Band uniforms this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Please remind your students to stop by and either try on their old uniforms (sophomores, juniors and seniors) or be fitted and assigned a new uniform (freshmen and banner carriers.)
On Thursday, August 13th, the students will have an extended day at band camp from 8:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Since they will be there all day, NOBOB will provide dinner for them. We could use some help with this in the form of desserts. If you are able to donate baked goods, please let me know.
We know that new parents in particular have many questions about the whole Marching Band experience. In order to try and answer some of those questions, we are introducing a new document on the website called “Marching Band FAQs.” Hopefully this will help to clarify some of the more common questions.
