Chaperones

What to Expect When You are a Band Chaperone

 

Away Games:

  • Please arrive at school with your student prepared to help.
  • Please help load/unload instruments and equipment onto the truck or bus for transportation.
  • Chaperones ride on the bus to all away games, parades, and band festivals.
  • You must take attendance on the bus you are assigned when boarding for location, and boarding for return to school.
  • All school rules apply to students for away games.
  • Most bus drivers will explain their rules to students.
  • If you feel the noise level is becoming excessive on the bus, make an announcement for students to lower voices.
  • Any problems on bus should immediately be reported to the Director when the destination is reached.
  • During the game, chaperones must sit with the band.
  • Pass out water to the students in the stands, and insure all garbage is cleaned up.
  • Chaperones accompany students in groups to the restroom when needed.
  • Distribute hat plumes prior to halftime performance, and collect them immediately after.
  • Accompany students to 3rd Quarter treats following halftime.
  • Assist the Directors if needed.
  • Enjoy the Band, the game, and have fun!
  • Upon returning to the school inspect uniform on hangers and mark off names as uniforms are properly put away.

Home Games:

  • Arrive with your student prepared to help.
  • March over to stadium with band.
  • Help move any needed equipment to stadium.
  • Pass out water to students in stands.
  • Chaperones must sit in the reserved seats with the band, and ensure only band students are sitting in these seats.
  • Distribute hat plumes prior to halftime performance, and collect them immediately after.
  • Accompany students to 3rd Quarter treats following halftime.
  • Assist the Director if needed.
  • Enjoy the Band, the Game and have fun!
  • Upon returning to the school inspect uniform on hangers and mark off names as uniforms are properly put away.
